Counsellors - Grades 11 & 12, Coaches - 8 Girls Basketball
Originally from Summerside, PEI, I have lived in Medicine Hat for the past twenty years (except for three years spent in Lethbridge). I graduated from Medicine Hat High School in 1999. I received my B.A. (with distinction) and B.Ed. (with distinction) from the University of Lethbridge in 2004, and have taught at CHHS since May 2004. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Lethbridge. I hope to finish this in 2016 (fingers crossed).
I am entering my fourth year as Grade 11/12 counselor at CHHS. Until September 2012, I taught in the Social Studies Department for most of my time at our school. Please do not hesitate to come by the counselling office for academic advising/problems, career counselling, personal issues, or just to tell me how much you love the Edmonton Oilers (you can pretend).
I have coached girls basketball at CHHS since 2007, working with our grade 7-9 teams. From 2005 to 2009, I was head coach of the Vikings Senior Football Team. After my football "retirement", I now referee football games. Because of my son, I now also love all things involving Thomas the Tank Engine, firetrucks, Handy Manny, and The Wiggles.
I enjoy spending my time with my wife (Catherine- who is also a teacher), my two boys (Michael-3 and Andrew-1), and our ageless cat (Poco). Summer is my favourite time of year- baseball, football, BBQ, and mowing the lawn (kidding on the last one). I also enjoy cheering for last place teams who had their glory years in the 1980's- the Eskimos and Oilers and indoctrinating my son to love them as well. I am sure they will rise again one day...
