About Me

Hi.  My name is Sheila Chartrand, and I’ve been the Library Assistant at CHHS since September, 1998 (I was fortunate to replace June Donst when she retired).  I started with SD76 in January, 1993 at Vincent Massey working with Carol Thompson, then transferred to Ross Glen in the fall, working with Marilyn Neilson and Rhonda Hunter.  When I came here, Patty Ambrosio was the teacher/librarian.  We played together for 12 years, then she up and retired on me!!  Happily, her shoes were filled by two great ladies – Lisa Mueller and Christy Gust.  They are amazing friends and colleagues, and have taken the library into a working learning commons!

I grew up on our family farm between Carstairs and Cremona, AB, and attended Hugh Sutherland School in Carstairs.  I’m the youngest of 12 children, and have 24 nieces and nephews, and 36 great nieces and nephews.  Needless to say, there were always lots of kids to play with growing up!  I moved to Medicine Hat in 1979, where I met my husband Don.  We’ve been married since 1980, and have two children, Lindsay and Jeremy.  This summer, Don and I went on an awesome adventure to South Dakota - this picture was taken at the Crazy Horse Monument.
